Test Prep Lessons
In order to prepare students for the SBA which will be administered at the end of the year, special instruction was designed to enhance students’ computer skills, improve usage of testing tools and strategies, and strengthen students’ understanding of formal assessments in order to build confidence in testing situations. This progression of 10-lessons was team-taught by our pair of vice principals, counselor, student services coordinator, and our curriculum coaches. The following activities should be practiced at home:
1) Typing skills - get familiar with the keyboard and keep in mind:
Grade 3: 10 words per minute Grade 4: 15 words per minute Grade 5: 20 words per minute |

3) SBAC Tools - be familiar with all the tools and use them!
- 8 Global Tools: help button, zoom in/out, calculator, question drop down list, save, pause, navigation arrows, end test
- 7 Stimulus/Question Tools: stimulus expansion arrows, flag, glossary, highlighter, notepad, strike through, tutorial
- Basic Testing and Pause Rules - Navigation, Print-on-demand, Text-to-speech
